Abstract

This paper focuses on the ways in which, and the level of quality with which, we are preparing future teacher educators. We have undertaken work over the past two years to investigate the preparation of future teacher educators via a series of alumni and faculty interviews, with invited teacher educator experts as think-partners, and focused reading of the extant literature. Our work is situated in the context of preparing doctoral students for the demands and expectations of the profession as content-specific teacher educators. Our results have generated substantial evidence that informed our curriculum, coursework, and practices for current and future doctoral students who will join the profession as content-specific teacher educators.
