Sat, April 6, 8:00 to 9:30am, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 700 Level, Room 714B

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of the Biwaase’aa in-school and after-school Indigenous program on Indigenous students. This program employs Indigenous Youth Outreach Workers (YOW) to provide support in-school and after-school programs. This study assesses the impact of the four major foci of the program: (1) Spiritual Well-Being through Cultural Activities; (2) Emotional Well-Being; (3) Mental Well-Being; and (4) Physical Well-Being. This study examines information on student success during the 2016-17 academic year (Authors, 2014), with comparisons to the results of a 2014 review of the program (Authors, 2014).
