Abstract

State longitudinal data systems (SLDS) were created to harness accountability data to inform policy and practice; however, the actionability of SLDS data remains uncertain. The research featured in the current study exploited a SLDS to examine how college completion and salaries six years after graduation vary by key high school factors. Key questions included: how many graduates access and complete college, and how do outcomes vary by high school curriculum track (e.g., general, college preparatory, career technology)? How do earnings relate to degree completion, and how does attainment mediate/moderate the relationships between high school curriculum track and earnings? Findings and implications will be presented in the policy context of [Identifying City] Public Schools.
