Poster #2 - Culturally Relevant Resilience: A Psychometric Meta-Analysis of the Child and Youth Resilience Measure

Abstract

Measuring key components of resilience is vital for understanding cross-cultural
dynamics among youth and the environment. The Child and Youth Resilience Measure
(CYRM-28) was developed as a cross-cultural measure of resilience and has been used in studies across the globe. To examine its properties, we conducted a systematic review of the literature. All psychometric evidence was extracted from included articles and authors were contacted for their original data. A multilevel confirmatory factor analysis is conducted to estimate the variability of the measurement properties among cultures. Results indicate that factors relating to cultural and contextual resilience have more variation between communities. Implications, limitations, and future research recommendations are discussed.
