Abstract

Creating and scaling learning environments that ensure the success of all learners, regardless of demographic group, is a core goal of STEM undergraduate education. Organizational change networks (OCNs) drive iterative improvement and scaling by connecting organizations or institutional leaders focused on fostering change within organizational units such as programs or departments. While much is known about organizational change and networks of individuals, the cross-section of these two areas of research in OCNs is under-investigated and provides an opportunity to accelerate improvement agendas. Our work illuminates lessons learned about leadership, membership, governance, theories of change, impact assessment, sustainability, and lifecycles through six case studies of long-standing and emerging OCNs that aspire to improve undergraduate STEM education and initial cross-case comparisons.
