If teachers harbor misconceptions about educational psychology topics, their teaching might be ineffective. In a two-by-two within-subject design, we tested the effects of misconception awareness activities. Student teachers filled-in questionnaires about misconceptions twice, at the start and the end of an educational psychology course (factor: time). Afterwards, they saw the correct answers. Half of the topic were addressed in the course, the other half was not (factor: content). We found main effects of time and time-by-content interactions for performance and awareness: Student teachers possessed fewer misconceptions and more accurate awareness of misconceptions at the end of the course, more so for addressed course content than for not addressed content. Implications for teacher education and future research will be discussed.
