Abstract

Although various studies show that attitudes towards STEM play an essential role in students’ success in STEM areas, there is little research on Chinese samples. To fill this gap, the Attitude towards STEM (A-STEM) instrument was translated into Chinese (A-STEM-C) and used to assess the effect of a STEM program implementing in an elementary school. We evaluated its psychometric properties: internal consistency, factorial structure, and nomological network by relating A-STEM with students’ attitudes towards collaboration. Overall, results involving 235 individuals who were tested twice suggest that the A-STEM behaves similarly to the English version and can be used for future research. The implementation of the STEM program improved students’ attitudes towards STEM and positively related with attitudes towards collaboration.
