International research disclosed the importance of feedback within assessment processes. Moreover, it has been recently stressed that teacher feedback is not as effective as peer reviews and peer feedback. Prior research has already shown the learning benefits that result from these processes, while it has not explained the different and the specific impact that both processes of giving and of receiving feedback have on learning. Using students’ answers to reflective questions administered in each phase of peer review, this study sheds light on students’ perceptions of the cognitive processes occurred and on the different learning benefits resulting from giving and receiving feedback.
