In light of America’s recent focus on addressing sexual harassment and misconduct, U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos and the Trump Administration have taken steps to reinterpret Title IX laws. The purpose of this study is to understand how college campus officials understand the new interpretation of the standard of evidence clause of Title IX in relation to other laws that encourage campus safety and seek to deter daunt sexual harassment. This study uses qualitative methods, and an implementation of judicial policies framework, to investigate how Title IX administrators and other Equal Opportunities Services administrators navigate sexual misconduct cases given the new Title IX guidance, as well as how administrators consider other laws like the Clery Act.
