Abstract

The present study examines college student parental supports in relationship to goal orientations, intrinsic and extrinsic motivations, academic self-efficacy and academic achievement. Parent supports were predictive of key motivational and learning outcomes. For African Americans students, relationships between the parental supports with mastery and academic achievement differed from other racial/ethnic groups. The presentation will report these results and provide opportunities for session attendees to discuss the findings.
