The purpose of this study was to discover if there was a different level of response on six identified factors between 270 economically disadvantaged parents who read with their children (kindergarten through third grades) only in Spanish and parents who used Spanish and English. A statistical significance was detected on parental involvement in their children’s learning, teacher communication with their children, and teacher communication with them. These findings suggest that to enhance parental involvement in ELs’ learning, schools and teachers should provide educational communication activities for the parents to have with their children. The results also revealed that parents would participate more in children’s learning if they felt there were resources from school which could help their children succeed academically.
