Educators, policymakers, and parents alike view parent involvement in their children’s education as a critical component of children’s academic success and engagement in school. This paper presents findings from the evaluation of the Children’s Aid Parent Leadership Institute, a parent engagement model that emphasizes building parents’ capacity to support student achievement. Preliminary analyses of findings suggest that the model has helped parents develop their skills, knowledge, and social networks—and that their increased capacity has supported student engagement in schools.
