Abstract

There is a paucity of research investigating the stories of women who love women in Jamaica.
In this study, the author used collective-memory work methodology to analyze written memories, artifacts, and semi-structured interviews to theorize the lived-experiences of women who love women in Jamaica. Results show these women have hope, care about how they are perceived, and feel discriminated against at times in the society. There is a need to tell the stories of women who love in Jamaica to validate their lived-experiences and to construct a body of knowledge on this important topic. Implications for this study can be used to mobilize education research, community, and support for students with female same-sex parents.
