Using Pinar's notion of complicated conversations, this paper presents accounts of these complicated conversation across four purposively selected higher education institutions as institutional case studies as they attempt to decolonise their curriculum. Through the analysis of these complicated conversation, the paper argues that higher education institutions are stuck in the rhetoric of decolonisation. In addition, staff and students have been sensitised about decolonisation through the student protest rather than on the scholarship on decolonisation.
