Research-Practice Partnerships: First Cohort of Projects in Alberta

Sat, April 6, 8:00 to 9:30am, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 200 Level, Room 201D

Abstract

Practitioners and university researchers engage in research-practice partnerships to conceptualize, design, enact and share research related to problems of practice in the field. This study of eleven projects in the Alberta Research Network illustrates how teams work in partnership to conduct research in schools and work as a cohort supported by the ministry of education. Multiple methods were used in this cross-case analysis of research activities with various partner organizations. Partners were satisfied with projects despite the desire to have more time to nurture relationships in the beginning stages of the project and less time devoted to administrative reporting structures. Engaging in partner research projects also cultivated new projects, particularly in districts that were not previously sought after by research teams.
