Because organizations find themselves entrenched in the context of the post-truth and data-driven results schemes, individuals become trapped by the iron cage of technical-rationality or enticed by alternative facts that they end up seeking efficient ways of knowing to make sense of the world. Thus, the purpose of this study is to explore how three school and district leaders of color facilitated improvement at the campus and district level by building relationships with others in the organization and caring about the needs of the people first. In a time when prescriptive ways of knowing and accountability is the norm, it is important to highlight feminist thinking and the educational leaders who use it to strive for excellence, not efficiency.
