Conducting Parent-Child Research Amid Inherent Tensions

Abstract

Beginning in September 2016 and continuing to present day, three middle school students worked alongside us, three education researchers who are also their parents, to co-investigate digital and nondigital practices. In this proposed paper, we address the methods we used and the tensions that arose when we engaged in parent-child co-research with our adolescents. We six also explore the collaborative autoethnographic methods we used and consider implications for future research and practice.
