Chinese College Students' Perceptions of Ethical Issues in Classroom Assessment

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate Chinese college students’ perceptions about the ethicality of classroom assessment practices. About 2700 college students from 177 universities located in 28 provinces in China completed a questionnaire with 15 scenarios that depicted ethical and unethical assessment practices in assessment. Overall, students had different views on different scenarios. Gender, educational level, and teaching program have an impact on students’ perceptions. Results indicated that ethical issues should be discussed in higher education, and developing guidelines of ethics in assessment is necessary in ensuring fair and scientifically assessment.
