Abstract

Researchers partner with a local urban school to empower families in a partnership-centered approach with resources to implement a research-based reading strategy, Read Two Impress (R2I). The mixed methods approach bridges quantitative data on students’ growth in reading with the qualitative data on families feelings of efficacy in supporting their children who struggle with reading. The R2I approach places the power of providing intervention for struggling readers directly into the hands of those who matter most to children, their families.
