Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to identify the merits of e-book usage for developing reading skills among emergent readers. By reviewing the most recent empirical research studies, this paper synthesizes the theoretical frameworks, the methodologies used, the reported educational benefits, as well as the differences in impact among age groups and experience. This review also determines implications for future research in identifying a need to establish guidelines for using e-books for literacy learning.
