This research investigated students’ perceptions of mobile learning, aiming to discover the challenges and the opportunities of implementing mobile learning in higher education. The authors utilized the extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to explore students’ perceptions of mobile learning. 192 students from a large university in southern California participated in the survey and 19 students from three colleges of the university attended the focus group interviews. The quantitative data was analyzed using Multiple Regressions by JMP. The research will conclude with a discussion in relation to the existing literatures, and recommendations for the design principles for implementing effective mobile learning in future higher education.
