Development of a Leadership Identity Among School Principals in the Galapagos Islands

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the leadership of principals leading schools in the unique context of the Galapagos Islands. We asked: “What are the perceived strengths and challenges of principals leading schools in the Galapagos Islands?” Significant is the examination of leadership unique of the islands and values respective to the success of schools and communities. Consistent with this year’s AERA Conference, this study will share powerful, empirically driven research that advances our understanding of the lived experiences of school leaders living and working in the Islands.
