Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the relationship among vocational identity (VI), career-related parental support (CRPS) and career adaptability (CA) in a sample of 1163 Chinese technical college students. Structural equation modeling (SEM) revealed positive mediation effects of three types of VI (career commitment making, identification with career commitment[ICC], and in-depth career exploration[IDCE]), and a negative one of career self-doubt (CSD) in the relationship between CRPS and CA. Multi-group SEM showed gender differences in relationships of CRPS with IWCC, commitment flexibility, in-breadth career exploration (IBCE) and IDCE, as well as associations of concern with CSD and IBCE. In general, links among PS, VI and CA were stronger for males. Significance of this study were highlighted.
