The study aims at examining how international-mindedness relates to global citizenship education, how it is defined in the International Baccalaureate (IB) schools, and how schools empower its development. Mixed methods design and data analysis of students’ and educators’ survey responses highlighted major themes. Their consistency across the data indicated the presence of an identifiable international-mindedness paradigm. However, there is evidence that this paradigm is not evenly represented at all IB schools around the globe. It appears that international-mindedness’ elements described as a strength of IB in one region or country could be interpreted as a weakness in another. These worldwide variations suggest divergence that goes beyond the context of international-mindedness and will require additional analysis.
