Abstract

In this paper, we report findings from a study in which we examined how graduates of a Carnegie-Project-on-the-Education-Doctorate (CPED) guided EdD program continued to engage as scholarly practitioners after completion of their doctoral studies. We gathered questionnaire and interview data to explore graduates’ continued use of scholarly practitioner efforts, use of signature pedagogy, employment of inquiry skills, and use of workplace settings as laboratories of practice. Results indicated graduates continued to use these skills in their workplaces. Moreover, the interview data were particularly robust and replete with examples of how graduates used the skills. Graduates indicated the program had profound influences on their thinking and approaches to their work, which continued to be exhibited in their use of these practices.
