The problem of a lack of confidence is observed to be most acute among students in the Science and Technology universities that service Taiwan’s electronics export and tourism sectors, the sectors where the ability to deal effectively with foreign clients is critical to success.
The storytelling approach has been shown in studies conducted in other countries and languages to be the solution to this problem. The purpose of the current paper, therefore, is to present research that focuses on determining how the use of storytelling as a pedagogical strategy can help college students preempt and diminish anxiety caused by their perceived difficulties in English speaking.
