The assessment procedures developed over 10 years of trials with over 1200 undergraduate students using virtual haptic simulators in HE disciplines have been recorded and compared. In 2016 (N=124) and 2017 (N=121) these procedures have evolved to include a range of methods to assess the performance progression of students’ learning cavity preparation skills. Students’ performances were retrieved from: (1) excavated plastic teeth; (2) hapTEL log-files for each task; e.g. percentage of caries, healthy tissue and pulp removed: (3) tutors’ observations. Records of students’ performance collected over two years included: scores of their cavity preparations; Micro-CT Scans and tutor assessments. The results show that assessment of the final product can also reveal the procedural steps of the individual students.
