Exploring the Effects of Professional Learning Communities on Teachers' Self-Efficacy and Job Satisfaction in China

Abstract

Developing professional learning communities (PLCs) has been one of the most important strategies to promote teacher development, school reform and student learning. This quantitative study examined the effect of PLCs on teachers’ commitment and job satisfaction in Chinese context. A total of 1067 teachers in Shanghai, China participated in the study. The results show that the practices of PLCs had positive influences on teachers’ commitment and job satisfaction.
