Twice-Exceptionality in Early Childhood Academically Talented Children Using the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study–Birth Cohort

Abstract

This study examined the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study-Birth Cohort (ECLS-B) a large-scale, nationally representative database of young children in the United States to determine the occurrence of health and attentional concerns in and early childhood gifted population. Using a binary logistic model, the results demonstrate that there is not a higher incidence of health concerns. In addition, this study found that children exhibiting attentional concerns from parents and teachers are less likely to be in the 95th percentile for achievement in mathematics and reading.
