Poster #8 - Examining the Social Aspects of the Greenhouse Effect Through Mathematics

Mon, April 8, 12:20 to 1:50pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 300 Level, Hall C

Abstract

We designed an instructional module that seamlessly integrates mathematics, environmental science, and technology to help students to critically think about the greenhouse effect. The results from a design experiment in a sixth grade classroom show that our tasks not only enhanced students’ covariational reasoning in mathematics but also helped students identify the different traits of climate change they encounter everyday in the news media.
