Wit(h)nessing Pedagogical Moments Through Contemplative and Arts-Based Practices

Sat, April 6, 2:15 to 3:45pm, Fairmont Royal York Hotel, Floor: Convention Floor, Concert Hall

Abstract

In this presentation we explore key moments in our recent teaching experiences through a form of inquiry that involves wit(h)nessing one another's pedagogical reflections through the use of contemplative and arts-based practices. Drawing from the reflective co-inquiry into our teaching practices in a course co-developed and taught independently at two universities, we offer insights into creative ways of being present-in the moment-and also open to what is not yet known. The presentation will offer a visual and textual presentation and include a short contemplative arts-based practice with the audience to generate discussion that embodies wit(h)nessing as a relational creative and contemplative act, opening conversations and actions to moments of relationality and reciprocity in holistic and contemplative education.
