Mon, April 8, 10:25 to 11:55am, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 800 Level, Hall F

Abstract

A qualitative multiple case study was conducted with four journalism and mass communication schools at higher education institutions in the United States that offer at least one degree program in a fully online format. The results of this study found five common contexts in which journalism and mass communications (JMC) instructors and instructional designers (IDs) unite as a professional learning community (PLC) to deliver courses in a fully online program. The contexts are Professional Development, Course Development, Just-In-Time Support, Pedagogical and Technological Expertise, and Results-Oriented Evaluation.
