[Name omitted] will serve as the discussant for the session. She currently serves as assistant vice president for the Center for Policy Research and Strategy at the American Council on Education. Prior to her position at ACE, [name omitted] held positions that various policy and research organizations, and also worked in undergraduate admissions and student affairs for a number of years. She will draw on her expertise and experience as a policy and practice influencer deeply involved in advocating for diversity and inclusion issues in higher education, as well as her efforts to bridge the worlds of research, practice, and policy. Based in Washington, DC, [name omitted] will provide insight into how these issues are playing out on a national scale. Her perspective will enable the panel to discuss the connections between research, policy, and practice, and the challenges of addressing entrenched myths regarding diversity in higher education. In particular, [name omitted] will provide insight into the barriers to advancing social change within institutions and public policy, and the possibilities and limitations of research in supporting advocacy efforts.
