Abstract

Teachers use a variety of instructional strategies in mathematics classrooms. These strategies are selected with the purpose to enhance mathematical understanding and improve learner performance. This paper reports on the analysis of the results of the strategies that teachers indicated they usually use in their mathematics classrooms. In order to respond to the research questions, student’s mathematics achievement scores, as well as variables related to teacher instructional strategies were selected from the mathematics teacher questionnaire was included in the analysis. Five separate linear regression models were run using an analysis package created by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement called International Database-Analyzer.
