Gender inequity is most pronounced in the computer sciences (CS). Despite efforts to dismantle gender inequity in CS sustained gender gaps exist at the undergraduate level and the workforce pushing us to seek the causes that result in this inequity. Using a mixed-method research design, this study explored whether undergraduate women’s belonging, interest, and perceived confidence in computing predicted their persistence in CS. Results suggested that confidence in programming; parental, peer and teacher support; and understanding the interdisciplinary utility of their CS degrees increases women’s interest, confidence, and belonging in CS that impacts their intent to persist in the field.
