The authors have implemented a novel program for developing master STEM educators who excel at incorporating the Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards into daily instruction. While there is much discussion regarding the importance of having Master STEM Educators, there is limited “know-how” regarding how to cultivate them. The
STEM Initiative (CCSI) is a research-based professional development program that draws on the knowledge base of effective STEM teacher preparation and effective STEM pedagogical practices. Beyond training effective secondary STEM teachers, CCSI promises insights of significance to all instructional disciplines regarding practices that promote student engagement, higher order meta-cognitive development and program enhancements based on an on-going mixed methods evaluation research effort
