A case study was implemented in a university writing course to examine students’ response to a “glocal” curriculum against the backdrop of the “America First” ideology. Situated within the framework of resistance movements since the election of Donald Trump, this course was conceived to resist or “talk back” to the disinformation and “Fake News” that has dominated political landscapes. Data revealed how the course linked global awareness to increased writing ability; however, enthusiasm to the course was broken down along lines of race and gender. Discussion will include building a glocal curriculum and conclude with a call for an ethical writing practice that trains students to debunk misinformation and fallacy as a necessary curricular endeavor in post-truth times.
