The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a Response to Intervention (RTI) model for struggling readers in grades two through five, from the perspectives of special and general education. The RTI model provides intensive instruction to students who are behind in school to determine if they can respond to evidenced-based instructional practices particularly for early reading. Results indicate comparable responsiveness to interventions in both special and general education groups.
