Mentoring Matters: An Interdisciplinary Mentoring Approach in Higher Education

Abstract

This study aims to explain a case of interdisciplinary mentoring experience in higher education. For this purpose, data was collected from multiple sources such as semi-structured interviews, observation notes from small group meetings with mentees, observation notes from real classroom setting, mentor’s dairy, and mentoring products. Then, the collected data were analyzed, qualitatively. The findings of the study answered how College of Education and College of Engineering experienced interdisciplinary mentoring processes, relationships, and practices. Moreover, the results revealed the evaluations regarding interdisciplinary mentorship from both mentor and mentee perspectives. Lastly, based on the conclusions, key implications were suggested to bear further research.
