Learning to teach is a complex endeavor; preservice teachers need a vision of accomplished teaching and language with which to describe disciplinary pedagogical practice and student thinking. Video analysis, as a facilitated activity in a preparation program, allows for the development of both professional vision and professional practice. In this study, we examined the role of video analysis of accomplished teaching in the development of novice teachers’ learning to plan for student thinking as they design instruction.
