This research examines Tao Xingzhi’s adaptation of Dewey’s pragmatism in a Chinese context with a focus on curriculum and teaching. The aim is to extend dialogues on the coherence of mind and body, physical and moral, and theory and practice among diverse scholars and practitioners. Using a re-conceptualist framework, the research reviews Dewey’s pragmatism and Tao Xingzhi’s adaptation, explores possibilities and opportunities pragmatism bring for enriching interdisciplinary and cross-cultural dialogues and intentional self-other relationship in terms of curriculum and teaching. Research suggests the importance for researchers and practitioners to be open-minded to integrate means and ends and make multiple interpretations.
