This study investigated how middle school English learners interact with a game-enhanced scenario-based assessment of argumentation skills that teachers can use to support their ongoing formative assessment process. The target skills included identifying and classifying opinions on a controversial issue. Here, we present the assessment design, results from a pilot study (N=163), and implications for providing language supports for English learners.
