Abstract

The purpose of this paper presentation is 1) to inform an understanding of how various combinations of hypertext and 3D graphics engage “readers” differently in the production of mental imagery to account for possible differences in comprehension and recall of informational text; 2) to build knowledge about the development and critical evaluation of multimedia texts for instructional purposes applicable to a wide range of educational and workplace environments; and 3) to build and mobilize interdisciplinary knowledge on the theory and research in embodied cognition and the ongoing contribution of dual coding theory.
