This paper examines the performance of items from a teacher observation instrument focused on mathematics instruction for students with disabilities. The instrument translates research from mathematics education and special education into specific performance indicators in order to provide actionable feedback to teachers. Raters scored video observations of instruction from 16 teachers of mathematics interventions in grades K-8 using the Developing Understanding of Procedures instrument, part of the Recognizing Effective Special Education Teachers (RESET) observation system. We use many-faceted Rasch measurement analyses to investigate item reliability, separation, and fit. Further, we investigate bias interactions related to items. Potential significance of the observation instrument is discussed.
