Abstract

In this paper, the authors (re)encounter Deleuze and Guattari’s (1980/1987) A Thousand Plateaus from their time as students and teacher during a doctoral course through continued collaborations in writing about qualitative research method(ologies) and theories. Our first encounter with the text exists not as a stable experience to interrogate in the past while remaining in the past; each (re)encounter produces something new. In following these trails of (re)encounters, we are encouraged to take risks and be vulnerable about how and what we think, feel, and share—and in how we do inquiry. By (re)encountering A Thousand Plateaus, the authors call for students and teachers alike to trouble their learning and teaching of qualitative inquiry.
