Decades of school reform have had limited effects on classroom instruction. Policy-makers and practitioners still do not understand the specific instructional changes that occur when teachers become more effective. This paper explores self-reported instructional changes of a group of teachers whose effectiveness, as measured by the Tripod 7Cs framework, improved more than 80% of district teachers over a four-year period. Findings shed light on what teachers consider to be foundational practice improvements.
