This paper discusses the transition from Lifelong Education to Lifelong Learning(henceforth LLL) and the promises and mantras the latter concept propagates. The name of Paulo Freire is often bandied about in this context. It is argued that his pedagogical philosophy is antithetical to the current master concept of LLL as promoted by OECD and the European Union
At the core of this use of LLL is the Neoliberal ideology. It is argued that use of Freire in this context is often a populist ploy in this post truth world in which any image or soundbite is availed of to render a concept trendy and appealing.
