The integration of computational thinking (CT) principles into core K-12 academic areas is seen as imperative to fostering critical 21st century thinking skills essential for tomorrow’s workforce. However, despite a growing recognition that all students should be exposed to CT practices at a young age and within core academic curricula, there are significant challenges to achieving this. Using a research-practice partnership approach, university researchers partnered with practitioners at a local “digital sciences” middle school to develop, test and refine strategies and resources that enable teachers to further middle school students’ attainment of CT concepts and practices.
