This paper describes a qualitative study using two-way ANOVA and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) techniques to understand the impact of organizational and personal/professional factors on STEM faculty retention and to explore gender differences in modeling STEM faculty retention. This study identifies organizational barriers, such as issues in organizational climate, policy implementation, and workplace or human resource practices, which impede women faculty success in academic STEM fields. Findings are used to develop a set of recommendations for college and university administrators to adjust organizational policy, structure, and practices that promote retention of high-quality women faculty in STEM fields and to improve overall representation of women faculty in STEM.
