As computational thinking (CT) has become an important part of STEM education, various instruments have been developed to measure CT competencies. However, research was lacking to measure affective aspects of CT directly. This paper developed and validated a CT scale to measure students’ dispositions that support CT and self-reported CT skills concerning different CT components. The reliability and validity of the CT scale have been examined by conducting internal consistency, factor analysis, and instructional sensitivity. The results indicated that the CT scale is a valid and reliable instrument that could directly measure students’ affective aspects of CT. Suggestions for future research include developing more items and behavior measures for the constructs as well as further exploring other CT subscales.
